1. Health

Without your health, you have nothing. Your mental, physical, and spiritual are of vital importance.
  • Physical Health – without it, you have little. I'm not the healthiest person in the world – far from it – but, for me, I work towards a point in which I feel happier about myself and the state of my body.
  • Mental Health – our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. Without a good level of it, taking control of your life will prove to be very difficult. Get to know yourself; know your stress signals, your moods, your energy levels, and what to do about them.
  • Spiritual Health – many have no clue or are confused about what this actually means. To quote from Spiritually Healthy You: “The primary sources of spiritual experience are: connection with a divine being; connection to your Higher Self; connection with the earth, the environment, nature…”

2. Relationships

People with social connections generally live longer.
  • Family – without a good relationship family relationship, life will be hard and lonely, and it will be difficult to be happier in life. Of course, in the case of toxic or narcissistic family members, distance is a much healthier option...
  • Friends—socialthey say, 'no man is an island'. You need friends, supporters, like-minded allies. Research shows that people with social connections generally live longer...
  • Love – it's believed that man's basic purposes in life is to love, and to be loved. Where are you on the scale of 'Love-and-be-Loved'?

3. Wealth

Wealth is how long you would be able to financially last if you were incapacitated for a longer period of time.
  • Income – without an income that we can exchange for goods and services. And we need to be sure that we are earning enough income to cover our daily needs. Money doesn't buy us happiness, but the size of our income does provide us with security, and impacts how comfortably we can live.
  • Wealth – we don't all have to be millionaires. But how long could you financially last if you were incapacitated and unable to earn money for a few weeks, months, or even a year?

4. Career/Study

You spend many hours of the day at it. Are you happy with it? Does it provide you with purpose? Enough money to live decently on?
  • Job – you spend many hours of the day at it. Are you happy with it? Does it provide you with purpose? Enough money to live decently on?...
  • Study – if you're a student, you'll want to do well. You've decided on a particular path of education, which means you have plans for your future...
  • Business – if you have one, is it working out for you? Are you struggling working in your business instead of on your business?...
  • Skills – need an upgrade in your skills to be better at your job, or to climb the corporate ladder? Or maybe you want to make a move into something completely different, like starting your own business.

5. Free Time

Hobbies – for de-stressing; for life enhancement; for fun, enjoyment, and the pursuit of interests.
  • Hobbies – for de-stressing; for life enhancement; for fun, enjoyment, and the pursuit of interests. We all need a hobby or two. Research shows that having an outlet away from work feeds one's creativity...
  • Knowledge – with knowledge comes freedom. Just because you left school decades ago doesn't mean your education is done. Learning is fun, and a life-long activity...
  • Learning new things – just for the fun of it. It gets you out of your comfort zone, and changes your brain by forming new connections between your neurons. This is called 'neuroplasticity'.

6. Contribution

Helping others, volunteer work, donations, and acts of kindness
  • Volunteer work – giving a hand once a week down at the local church, feeding the homeless.
  • Donations – a small, once a month payment to the local pound to help with the cost of looking after stray dogs and cats. Maybe you own a company that could donate a few physical products to the local children's charity...
  • Acts of kindness – smiling more, holding the door open for another, walking your next door neighbor's dog for her because she's feeling a little under the weather. Doesn't matter how small the gesture. You have no idea of the impact your little act of kindness on someone's day, and how that radiates out to the people that surround them

When we do for others, we do for ourselves too. Helping to improve the lives of others is one of the most important areas of self-improvement in one's own life.
